Just after Pite returned to the mainland, he was sent out again, but this time with enough food, supplies, and settlers to make a modest outpost along the coast.
Captain Pite wonders why he is again the leader of the expedition. It might just be that he was the one to find the second continent so he knows better than anyone how to get there, but Pite can't help but think that he has been tapped by a higher authority to fulfill a greater role.

Pite soon finds his way back to the land. Luckily, many small skiffs were brought along to facilitate the unloading of men and supplies because the water along the beach is very shallow. Before sundown most of the supplies are off-loaded onto the shore.
Wishing to create a military presence before they are caught off guard, the first thing Pite does is order the creation of a primitive fort. Doing so requires the accumulation of 2 km of land.
Just as the fort is starting to take shape, Pite notices a beached ship on the horizon. It's the Matrosian one he discovered last time - he'd forgotten about it. Pite sends one ship down to investigate. They sift through the wreckage to see if they can find anything.
(The 2 km outpost is more or less along a straight line drawn from Phoenica to Matros to the eastern shore. It sits just on the corner just below the horizontal bit. I hope that makes sense)

The Matrosian ship appears to have been destroyed at least a year ago, when it hit a sharp outcropping of rocks. You find six skeletons, four women and two men. One of the women is holding a bronze cup, which appears to be ceremonial. There are various other items around the ship that have decent value as well.

The men decide that grave robbing is not in their line of business after all. They make an account of the things they found and arrange to tell the Matrosians.
Meanwhille, the fort is nearing completion. Work has now begun on the actual town.
Capitan Pite and most of his ships return to Phoenica via Matros. In the coming months, it will be Pite's responsibility to oversee the new colony and it's supply via shipping routes. Already regular shipping schedules to Matros and the new colony are being finalized. Pite's vision of being destined for bigger things seems to be coming true.

Due to the success of the recent colonization, interest has grown in continuing exploration. As Phoenica's hold on the colony is still quite tenuous, few dare to go too far inland from the coast. Therefore another naval expedition is christened, sailing ever eastward.
This time Captain Oki will command mainly because Captain Pite - the most able commander - is stuck looking over Phoenica's new colony. The plan of course is to sail east, following the coast. Nothing is known about this part of the world, not even Matrosian maps can help here.

The expidition continues to sail, day and night, following the rocky northern coast. The land cuts in on itself several times making the going dificult. Oki and his top men continue to draw maps as acurate as possible, although it is becoming more and more difficult due to the lack of any known refrence points.

After many days of sailing, the coast becomes fairly managable. Every now and then, you spot signs of human habitation; an abandoned camp here, a set of tools there. You feel as though you are approaching a great discovery.

After many more days of sailing, even the crew has had it. Talk of turning around have been constantly brought to Captain Oki only to be turned down. Now even Oki is wondering if anything at all is out here. He decides that if he doesn't find anything at the end of the week then the ships will turn around, and the expidition will be a failure.

On the second to last day of the week, contact is finally made with a new nation. A setlement is seen along the coast of a rather large peninsula. Captain Oki leaves a Captain of another ship in charge of the sailing fleet and takes his own boat closer to the setlement to make contact.

As you approach the settlement, you can see that it isn't like the civilizations you have encountered before. They have different styles of architecture, and are presumably much more different than simply that.
(We'll need to wait for Nazim to get here. I'll PM him so he'll know to post.)
